First time flat ironing during transition to natural |
Reflecting back on that summer (2010), I realize how pivotal it was in my life. After spending two years in the dorms on my college campus I knew it was time to move on, but literally a weekend after my lease expired at the dorm, I left the country for the first time in my life to do a two-week study abroad in China (YAY!). While all of that was exciting, the most significant aspect of this summer was how much my love and appreciation grew for the man of my dreams (love since 4/20/09, now hubby since 4/12/12). We had been together for a little over a year at that point and we decided to get a place together after months of us both being vehemently opposed to that idea. Due to financial reasons and just being used to (and enjoying) spending so much time together, we eventually agreed on cohabitation and began planning to get an apartment in the upcoming fall.

Now before I start rambling, let me just share my vision with you all. When I decided to go relaxer free, several things changed in my life and I learned a lot about myself. I realized that I wanted to do a complete revamp of my life and that included everything, not just my hair! Coming out of my second year of college, I was ready for change in a big way. I wanted to most importantly strengthen my faith, to get a firmer backbone and improve my health; overall I was ready for a lifestyle makeover!
Well here I am a little over two years later and I am still figuring out how to do those things, LOL, does that make me a little challenged??????? If you said yes, SHAME ON YOU (:-P), seriously though, those things sound easy in your head and even look pretty on paper but once its time to put it into action, that is a whole 'nother story!! So this blog is about my journey to an overall healthier, more spiritually centered life. This is a place that I will share my experiences as well as pointers that I find effective for dealing with obstacles, but it will also be a place for my friends (old and new) to share experiences as well.
